Custom Head Unit Bracket

I'm relatively new the Explorer world and just bought a Pioneer head unit to replace the factory one, but I'm not a huge fan of the mounting bracket that came with it. It's the standard "Ford bracket with pocket" that Crutchfield and other companies sell. I like some aspects of it like the "pocket" but I don't really like the way the plastic frames the head unit. Does know of any alternative bracket manufacturers or tried their hand at making their own bracket? Thanks for any ideas or input you can offer.

When I had a seperate 1/2 DIN eq, I bought a different bracket that had either the opening for it, or a simple black face that covered it. I got it at pep boys.

I put in an EQ
