So I've been reading these forums a lot and its helped.
I recently picked up a travel trailer. My Exp has a Class II 1 1/4" Tube on it and a 4 pin wiring harness.

So reading in here i was able to hook up the Electric brake module without much of a problem. I got the harness adapter at Princess Auto for 13.99 this morning to hook up the controller inside the car and it took 5 minutes to install and mount and wire up. wonderful!

Ive seen the harness in the back. Do i just tie into the blue wire there for the trailer brakes?

Also are any of the wires on there for power for the trailer and backup light?

Other issue is, the trailer i bought comes with the 2" receiver bar as it has the stabilizing bars on it. My SUV of course has only the 1 1/4" receiver Tube. So my question is, can i just weld on a 2" tube to my pre-existing hitch? I was thinking of welding it below the current 1 1/4" Tube and maybe welding a couple support bars verticle on it between the 2 tubes? Would this work? I am not planning on towing anything more than what my class ii can already handle.

Here is an example of what i mean: http://www.etrailer.com/pc-COMBO~V75242.htm
I can pick this up at Princess Auto for only 12.99 and thats a big difference than a full hitch.

Thanks for the help folks!

get something like this instead of welding http://www.etrailer.com/p-80303.htm

I looked at that idea however i would like to pull a travel trailer and those are not recommended for that. Unless i welded that into the 1 1/4" tube hole. Would that make it strong enough?

From reading these forums, i understand those adapters lose 50% of the tongue weight.

I just bought and mounted a class IV hitch just below the class II. It is designed so you don't have to remove the OEM and looks great. Then you can use the class II for a bike rack. Drawtight was the brand and it mounts directly to the frame without drilling. It cost about $130 and I installed it myself.
