CV joint/axle replacement on a 1998 XLT 4x4.

i took the old cv joint out already... and im really hoping this was the problem to begin with...we were driving during a really heavy snow storm... wella couple of days later we were driving along and it like disengaged out of drive... lost all driving... i was able to milk it and get it home... would this be beacause my cv was shot? i could feel it on the floor at my feet and im pretty sure this was it... when i took it out it was deffently shot... but how do i know that this was the problem.... im trying to put the new one back in and having difficulty any tips?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 95-01 section. Do you have a slap hammer with the horseshoe end to remove the axle?

what did you remove?
did you remove it before or after the issue occured?

V6 or V8?

a bad CV would not cause a vehicle to lose all drive.
