so i got my ex in november. havent done any windows down driving cuz its effing cold... however i did the otherday.

i noticed what sounded to be a 'pop' coming from the i believe to b the driver side. i am thinking that this is a cv joint failing or about to or is bad or whatever.

how could i check this? see if there is any rotational play in the joint itself? on a scale from 1-10 how severe is this if the joint is worn?

i guess i have decided to keep my ex. and do the work that needs to be done to it... thanks

btw its another crappy 02

yeah, i plan on it. i have to get under there and check a wheel bearing tooo. just tryin to hold out for warmer weather a bit.

the reason i suspect a cv joint is that it only does it in slow speed turns, and i usually notice it like when changing directions, like in a s type turn if that makes sense

the way I found out my CV joint broke is i heard the pop noise, then when i put it in 4 low, and let it roll, it binded and made a loud thud like pop. went to 3 different shops and had them look at it (without telling them what i suspect) and they said it was the CV axle

anther way to tell, from an old front wheel drive car, was turn the wheel lock to lock in reverse, if it pops, clicks, or makes a loud snap - its fried. When i got it out it seemed ok but once i took the rubber boot off i saw the 'race/ring' was cracked.
