damper door switch location on ranger 97

while cruising down the road with the A/C on and the air is cold, all of a sudden the hot air starts blowing out the vent, hot hot hot. A friend of mine was a Ford Service Manager for about 20 years says the Damper Door switch has gone bad. After reading some of the other forums on here, I am asking it anyone has experience this before. And if so where is it location behind the dash? Please would like your input on this!

If you mean the "blend" door, its behind the glovebox...
