Just bought a 44 out of of 74 Bronco to go under my 93'. Before I start the project, I would like to convert the axle to Disc brakes. Does anyone have any good imformation on this conversion for this particular axle. I see the conversion kits for sale through James Duff and others, but hear it can be done for a fraction of the cost at the local junk yard. Any info would be helpfull.

Thanks

Everything you ever wanted to know about converting it to discs is right here.... http://www.mcguill.com/Bronco/discswap.htm dont buy a kit- they are a ripoff. Also, if you plan on abusing it offroad you may want to look into different shafts- the stock shafts have small/weak 260 u-joints. You can either go aftermarket or you can use the chevy shafts and have the long side inner cut down and re-splined for cheap.

5" on 4.5" ?

How do I get it to 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern?

I guess it is easier to switch the rear 8.8" to 5" on 5.5" ?

You dont. 5 on 4.5 has no decent hubs and its all weak crap. In theory, you could use everything off of an older Dodge from the knuckles out but you dont want it- its junk. Convert the rear to 5 on 5.5.

Sounds great. Can i use the 74 radius arms? I picked those up to?

yep, there's been a few guys here use the radius arm setup.
