Buddy of mine just called and asked me about why the brake light on the dash would come on, I asked him if the fluid was low, he said no, I asked him if the e-brake might have been slightly on, he said no. What else would cause this light to come on?

Eiher a leak in the system or pads or shoes somwhere are wearing prematurly
casing an imbalance in the system which is triggering the light

are you referring to the brake light or the ABS light, because the brake light AFAIK only comes on with two things
1) low fluid (sensor on the reservoir)
2) momentary switch on the ebrake pedal

did you check for shorts, and make sure the switch level indicator is working properly.

Another cause maybe an air bubble in the line. I had the calipers changed on our X right after we got it. Approximately 1 mo. later the light came on. I checked everything over and nothing stuck out as bad. I rebled the brakes and sure enough there was an air bubble about 6 in. long that pushed thru the 1/4" hose. The light has yet to come back on and that was almost a year ago.

thanks for all the info i will be checking everything out this weekend
