Hi guys. My dash lights and cigarette lighter went out two days ago. I checked all the fuses and they seem to be ok.

The "instrument panel illumination" fuse is ok, no doubt about it. About a year ago I changed the headlight switch so I don't think it should be gone by now. I had this same issue 6 months ago and the problem was the fuse not properly inserted in the slot but this time I really don't know the genesis of the problem. It all seems to be fine.

The cigarette lighter is, according to the owner's manual, the same as the "flash to pass" function. My flash to pass is ok, lights do come on when pulling the lever, but the cigarette lighter is not working. I would think that if that fuse is out my flash to pass AND the cigarette lighter would not work, but I do have the flash to pass working. Can somebody help me?

Thanks

Ok so it will sound stupid but I fixed the cigarette lighter issue. One of the cables which connect to the cigarette lighter was disconnected. I still have the problem with the dash lights and I don't know where to start. Any advice?

Thanks

Don't rule out your switch. It sounds silly to point out, butvare you sure the dash lights aren't just dimmed? Do any projects lately that disturbed some wiring?

Yes I did check if the lights were dimmed, they are not. Unfortunately no projects lately done to my Explorer. I really don't want to change AGAIN the headlight switch but I have no other explanation for the problem other than that switch itself.
