So.. For weeks my front overhead lights have not worked.. I put this down to burnt out bulbs, and thought, I'll get round to it on days off..

Well, fast forward a few months later, and the other night I noticed that when I turn my headlight switch onto the marker light setting, nothing happens. you have to turn it all the way on for the lights to work. So, I'm assuming, broken switch?

As I dismantled the dashboard to take a look, I disconnected the switch for the headlights and the dimmer and hey presto my overhead lights come back on...?!?!?!?!

My dimmer switch is not the one where you can click the overhead lights off, so...
What's causing this? replace both switches?

I would start with the headlight switch since so much wiring for lighting is run through there. :dunno:

For you it could first be on a slow boat from China and then another slow boat from the USA

Good news!

It was the faulty headlight switch causing all the problems. The overhead lights in the front now work as they should. My sidelights/marker lights come on on their own again and everything works as it should.
