The other day I noticed that my headlights were not on (ie daylight running lights). But when I turned them on from the switch, they came on. So there is a problem with the daylight running lights system. After reading a number of posts here, I was able to locate the DRL module (behind the LF bumper). Apparently, the female stub on the module (where the male connector is inserted) was broken off the module and the male connector was only holding on the the module by the metal contacts, of which one broke off when I disconnected the connector from the module.
I had some work done earlier in the year (Wheel bearings and brakes) in this area and I guess the mechanic must have accidentally hit the module cracking the female stub connector. Over time water and seeped in causing corrosion of the connectors.
I purchased a new DRL module and was going to do the repair myself. However, I had problem removing much the the corrosion in the male connector and was unable to remove the metal contact that was stuck in the male connector. So I need to replace the connector and the associated wire.
The wire appears to join up with some other wires that are taped together. Is the connector to the DRL module part of a larger wiring harness or is it a short section that plugs into this larger harness? In short, what is involved in replacing the DRL connector and mire?
Thanks for your help in advance.
