Does anyone know if the factory daytime running light kit is simple plug-in job or needs extensive rewiring? The parts guys I've talked to don't seem to know or don't want to bother looking it up for me.

Thanks,
Harry

Don't know about factory, but FWIW the kit from Explorer Express is a simple plug-in.

But I just read you have a 97, and I think the kit is 91-94 only. Sorry, Harry, but my coffee hasn't kicked in yet... Dead Link Removed

No mods yet, but getting ALOT of ideas here.

I wanted some daytime lights, but also good all-purpose auxilliary lights. I went to Autozone and got some Pilot $60 driving lights and mounted them in the grille. They work well for daytime lights and night-time blinders Dead Link Removed

Good luck!

I believe the FWIW stands for:

1. Yes, FWIW does =For What It's Worth

2. If you want daytime running lights, Just turn your lights on during the day.

Thanks for for your suggestions guys. I think I'll order one and work from there unless I can figure a way to use some relays to automaticlly switch from my brights only during the day to regular beams & lights when I turn the headlight switch on.

Dignan, I do run w/ my lights on during the day but I wanted a way of having daytime lights without having all the other lights prematurely burn out.

From what I've read, lighted power door lock/window switches and lighted speed control switches on the steering wheel are quite expensive. I already have 2 dash bulbs that I need to change.

Explorer Express no longer has DRL kit

Explorer Express no longer has the DRL kit. I talked to a local Ford dealer and there is a kit available for my 2000. The part number is : f6sz13b218aa.
He quoted me about $60. He couldn't tell me if it was a simple plug in or if it had to be spliced in.
Does anyone know about this kit?
