Alright, yesterday on my drive home from wheeling I expierenced a pretty vilont shake in the steering wheel. I was only going 20MPH in my neighborhood and hit a bump in the road while turning to the left. I had removed my front sway bar before I left so Im thinking that was the source of the problem. Either that or maybe everything coverd in mud under there had something to do with it? Anyway I cleaned it out in there and re-installed my swaybar and I havnt had any shaking since. Is there anything else that could cause this to happen then go away? or did I solve my problem? It was scarey even at only 20MPH and don't want it happening again. Thanks,

-Russ

Its peculiar for a 2nd gen to have a "death wobble" because its not a panhard / drag-link steering setup (its a rack and pinion) and your caster should be fixed.
Maybe there was air in the steering lines -- check and make sure the steering's fluid reservoir is full.

That wobble is typical of Fords when the steering is turned while the engine is off. For some strange reason, Fords PS system get air in it when the rack is moved without the pump running. Turning the steering back and forth, lock to lock several times with the engine running will almost always cure the problem.

Shop I worked in had a general rule of thumb, put any ford up on the lift and you always followed that procedure before returning the vehicle back to the customer.

yeah Ive noticed that too...whenever I take a wheel off and put it back on it does that for a while.
