We are having an unusual problem with the heat/defroster settings in our '04 Explorer with manual temp control. Fortunately we are not having a temperature issue, as hot and cold work properly, but what we are experiencing is that on the right side of the airflow control (heat, defrost, blend) it does not matter what setting it is on we always get a blend between heat vents and defrost vents. On the a/c side of the knob the airflow works as it should, we are only have this blending occur on the heat/defrost side of the controller. I have removed the hvac/radio surround to watch the actuators and they all appear to be working properly and I don't see the broken plastic arm problem that same have had.
So after saying all of this, has anyone else experienced that, and if so, how do you fix it so we can have heat, or defrost, or a blend when we want it.
