Delcaring an Emergency! Smoke in the Cabin!

I meant to say MFS-multifunction switch, it's the turn signal and windshield wiper control.

OK, looks likes whatever was fried is now fried for good. I no longer get hot air out of the vents when selected to Heater. I'm going to investigate the blend door actuator and wiring this aft.

UPDATE:
So I pulled the blend door actuator and it is functioning correctly. When I had the glove compartment pulled I visually inspected the wiring and nothing appears to be fried. The motor still cycles through the fan level settings so that tells me the blower resistor/motor is fine. Also, when I have A/C selected it does get cold, but when heat is selected there is no heat. So the actuator moves the blend door to the heat side but there is no hot air in the cabin (other than what I generate!) Now, I'm again assuming this is electrical in nature per my description earlier in the thread and the initial event. So I don't think it is heater core related. Would I be correct in that assumption? If so, where else should I be looking? If not, same question. I have checked all the related fuses and none are blown. I've got to get this figured out as the cold weather is coming soon here in Texas! My God, it's going to be into the 40's this week!!
Thanks for any input.

Have you checked the heater core inflow and outflow hoses for temp?

have you performed continuity checks in the wiring yet? it might be worth it to head to the wrecking yard and pick up another control unit to see if it works, they run about $30 and can be easily returned if it is not the problem.

What Control Unit are you referring to?
No, I have performed no continuity check on the wiring. Which wires to check? The blend knob works so I assume that's ok. The fan selector works so that's ok. The A/C function works on the selector knob but not the Heat functions (heat, defroster...) perhaps that's the culprit. (I am thinking this through as I type.)
Also, I have not checked the hoses. Will do that this aft.
Thanks for the responses!
