Hey there, i have an 02 xls that i wash and detail (int and ext) just about every week. The past 2 weeks/times ive detailed the windows have been nothing but trouble. Because it's the only time of day i can afford to do it, i wash/detail between 11 and 3 PM, when temp's here reach about 85 to 95 degrees. this always makes it harder to do a better job, but ive never had more trouble with it than in the past 2 weeks. so here are the facts: i don't own an awning to protect it from the sun, i use Meguiar's crystal deep car wash on the complete exterior, i WAS using Eagle One window cleaner which worked pretty well up until a couple weeks ago, I tried Turtle Wax's window cleaner and it only got worse, i switched to Stoner's "Invisible Glass" and it got better but still streaks like never before, i do indeed use crumpled newspaper, and the temp outside when i usually go to clean is about 90-95 degrees. the solution seems obvious, to wait until it gets cooler. tried that. still streaks. does ne1 kno of nething i'm missing? maybe a chemical window treatment i need to have done? thanks.

while im at it, how exactly do i clean my air filter? do i need to just replace it? either way i would be very thankful if i could get step by step directions on this, i have much to learn about engines.

and finally, my cig lighter is shot, and the fuse is fine, ne ideas on wuts goin on with that?

thanks,
BSlusser

I use Windex and paper towels on mine and it does just fine.

i used to do that too, but if i even notice that im looking through a window, i feel like i've done a below par job, so i started using auto-glass cleaner, worked like a charm....until about 2 weeks ago...

I use the Rain-X foaming window cleaner and a microfibre rag on the windows of my X and Saturn and haven't had a problem yet.

sounds pretty thorough, where could i find a microfiber rag? and isn't that the kind of material u use to clean a pair of glasses?

Micro-fiber is a very fine terri-cloth that is usually used to remove wax, you should be able to get them from your local parts store. Personally, I use just the cheap blue window cleaner and paper towels. As far as having shade in order to clean the windows stretch an old towel over the window and let it sit for a few minutes and it will drop the temperature of the glass considerably.

awesome, thnks every1 for the tips, ill let u kno how it goes w/in the next 2 days

only stuff to use on glass (IMO) stoners invisable glass

I use Rain-X too but just the regular window wipes for the outside and the inside (two different wipes). The buffing is what stinks about them but I find myself cleaning them about a 1/4 of the time I have to with regular old Windex. The outside is great because the rain runs off and you use your wipes a lot less so it extends the life of them. :)

I use windex and newspapers and they work great. Just keep replacing the newspaper for each window.
