Anybody ever use Detroit Axle/Dearborn Axle for parts?

I recently purchased a pair of CV Drive Axles for my '02 XLT and have to say I am disapointed. These were re-manufactured axles so I understand they will not be perfect but I believe this is a bit too far. They claim to chase the splines and threads but the condition of these axles makes me question that. The threads on one of the axles has visible damage and the other had rust in the threads. Both of the differential ends still have the original retaining rings in place. This is obvious due to the grime under them as they are turned. With these rings in place and obviously never removed, it is obvious the splines were not chased. They metal parts are spray painted with a grey paint to make them look as if they were sandblasted. It is obvious this isn't the case as their is rust and grease/grime under the paint.

This was the kicker. one of the hubs at the wheel end had a suspicious rough area around it. At first I thought it was rough casting. I picked at it with my finger nail and a ring of rust popped off.

Here is a shot of the threads.

I haven't compared against the original parts as they are still installed but the replacements have different diameter shafts on them.

I do not think I will try them again and will be searching for replacements.

i've bought rack and pinion from them for my lincoln ls and mountaineer. there seems to be some missing QA inspections being done when they ship out their products. the shipping for my lincoln ls has the pinion shaft protruding out of the box but I see no damage on the item, the inner tie rods were also new and tight. also one of the boot clamp was missing. For the price I let it slide and ordered another one for my mountaineer since the one I ordered for my lincoln ls is fine. Got some issues with the shipping since it took them more than a week to ship instead of the fedex 3 day shipping. Same thing happened, both of boot came with zip ties instead metal clamps. Both units looked good to me and haven't noticed any leaks or issues yet. They also provide a lifetime replacement for those racks if you return to them your old unit (they provide free return shipping via fedex) I've paid $110 for each rack, for that price I don't really expect something spectacular but I was surprised for the better.

Worst company ever! Do not deal with. Ordered a steering rack, showed up faulty. They made me swap out the pump 3 times before admitting rack was faulty (rack, pump, reservoir, and hoses were all replaced at same time) so this put me over their 30 day policy. I had to pay for the part again to get a replacement sent out and had to pay for the return shipping. Took over two months to get my deposit back MINUS shipping (which I had paid). Bunch of crooks, worst Autoparts company I've dealt with in 20 years!

"Detroit"

Chinese rubbish with American sounding names...hubs no good either.

Callahan is another one.

The question is, did you get what you paid for?

Remanufacturing things is very difficult to do and be profitable at it. Two things will kill you not having enough business and having too much business.

Good to know, almost bought Callahan brakes for my F350.
