I've seen it listed like this more than once, even on the explorer express website with the mac CAI's. Why are the 4.0 SOHC inatkes different from 95 to 98 and 99+? I cant think of anything that changed....

I wanted to put a volant CAI on a 97 SOHC, but its listed for 99+

IAT sensor

I believe that the first year the SOHC V6 was available in the U.S. was 1997. There may have been some exported in 1996.

On my 2000 the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is integrated with the MAF sensor. This may have started with the 1999 model. The integrated MAF/IAT sensor can be identified by the six wires vs four wires for the non-integrated MAF sensor.

oooooohhhhhh yeaaaahhhh I completely forgot about that :D

So I guess to put a volant CAI in a 97 i'd just have to cut an extra hole for the IAT sensor? the 99+ still has that IAC pipe going to the intake?
