difference in ex 5.0 and gt40 crate?

ok whats the 100 hp differecne, cam, injectors, what else,


reason i ask, i want my x in the 13s so i know intake, headers, hiflow cats, exhuast(dual style like boomin's), SCT, 24lb inj., new plugs, wires, pullies? cam. what else is different

look at a 93 cobra, slightly more restrictive intake, e cam i think and i think they had iron heads. 320 hp i believe, with a 65mm tb and 24 lb injs

all of the 5.0 cobras were pretty much the same, around 240 hp from the factory. the '95 r used some unique stuff like a lightning shortblock with a different cam and rockers.

The cobra R was actually a 5.8 anyway, but was making well over 300 ponies

The average 5.0 was putting out approx 225.
if i remember correctly the standard cobra only had upgraded heads to get it's extra few ponies.

I used to own an '88 5.0. The motor went south, and a local (Idaho) performance shop happened to find a cobra R that had been flipped. he picked up the motor and dropped in my mustang At the time I was rather young and paid for the swap as it was way over my head. God that was a quick little puppy. And an extremely expensive engine

If you want to make up for the 100 hp differance add....
-cam
-24lb injectors
-chip programed for the injectors
-headers (HUGE funnel on our motor)
-any type of exhast as long as you dont go to big (single 3'' or 2.25'' duals)

Another differance between the crate motor and our's is I believ they have ALOT higher compression ratio. I could be wrong though.

To get into the 13's you will need alot more than i listed. Basically either...
-nitrous
-supercharger
-stroker

A 100 shot just barely eeks me into a 13 (13.9)
