Different approach to a lift. Will it work?

So I ran across a forum on Suzuki's where they flip the strut mount upside down to get around a 1.5" lift for the cost of new longer bolts. Basically you press out the strut mount bolts and drill 3 new holes and run 1.5" longer bolts to remount it. I haven't had a chance to look at the way the struts are put together, but I'm sure plenty of you are familiar with that and should know if this will work. I'm just worried about the stability of it because I don't know how they are put together.

No it will not. The Explorer suspension is setup totally different then the Suzuki.

Not to mention the explorers weigh about a ton more than the average Suzuki... I wouldn't try to do a discount lift, do it the right way up front so you don't risk damaging something and having to do it the right way down the road after spending a lot of unnecessary money.

That's the problem with our ex's...there is no option to "do it the right way!" Spacers are by no means the right way and flipping the strut mount is a spacer, so if I am going to do a spacer, why not save the money if possible. It would certainly be no less "safe" if it worked.

I agree that the Suzi flip is just a spacer, the difference is the upper mount on an Explorer is welded to the frame and there is nothing to flip or move. This is why they are using a spacer.

Of course you are limited on lift to 2 - 3 inches because of the suspension design.
