I've got a 96 explorer AWD with the check engine light staying on. The code keeps coming up for the EGR valve. I have replaced this and the solenoid and have had the manifold taken off and cleaned.(I was told carbon build up could cause this problem). Since then I was told by another mechanic that if the differential pressure feedback sensor was bad i would get the same code. I should point out the truck doesnt run or idle rough. Has anyone else had this problem? Also can anyone tell me where this sensor is located and is it something I can fix myself?

The DPFE sensor could indeed be the problem. But first check the
two vacuum lines going into the bottom of it. They often crack and
cause a vacuum leak which in turn triggers an EGR code.

The sensor is located on the driver's side of the intake near the middle
of the valve cover. Held on by two screws, with an electrical connector
and two vacuum hoses on the bottom. Extremely easy to service.
The last one I bought was around 40-50 bucks.
