I have looked all night and can't find it. I thought I had seen a thread that talked about putting in a dash switch that would either enable or disable the AC for the climate control system on a '02 explorer.

I'd like to be able to simply disable the AC so it only runs when I want it to. As it is, the Limited kicks the AC on a lot in Auto mode and there is no way of telling when the AC is on. Of course the AC compressor also comes on when the defroster is on. Many times I need the AC on to initially defrost the window, but don't need to it on continually.

Any idea where the thread is?

I would find the ground wire on the high pressure switch on the ac system inder the hood and clip it about 3 inches from the switch. The attach a wire from the switch and run it to my new switch inside. Then fron that switch to ground. This will also prevent your PCM from doing the idel up when the AC is on.
I did not see the old post but this way looks like the best way to do it from the OEM prints. It is also a 10 volt wire and low amps that is looking only for a ground. This will prevent a heave load being passed threw the switch (less chance of a fire)

Hope this helps If I am wrong some one please step in. I am a jet aircraft tech and this makes the most sense.
Good Luck
