I put the rear axle from a '98 X under my '91 a few months ago, but ran out of time & didn't install the parking brake cables. This weekend I finally attempted to install the cables I'd bought several months ago, yet they don't fit. I've replaced every cable on the thing (both rear, the intermediate, and the front) with the cables from a '98, and I've come up with a complete assembly that's a few inches too long, not to mention a rubber floor plug that doesn't even sit in the cable hole. My repair manual states that in '93 the pedal assembly is much different than the '91- '92 models. Is this the missing piece? Do I need to replace the pedal assembly to make my new cables work correctly? On my '91, the end of the front cable mounts directly to a U bracket on the pedal, which uses about an inch of cable between the floorboards and the pedal mount. My manual elludes that the cable on the '93 & up system may wrap around the pedal assembly a little bit. Anyone know? Please help! I'd really like to be able to park my truck in the driveway again without putting a brick under the tires every night...

Are you a 2dr or a 4dr this also make a difference in the cable length.

As for the pedal this too might be a difference.

Sorry, this is for a 4 door. All the cables I bought were for a '98 4 door too...

Anyone? Bueller?
