ok i just got my 40 flowmaster put on today with custom rear routing. stock pipe to muffler then custom out the back very near bumper and trailer hitch with 2.25....do i need to disconnect the battery?...also it only sounds good at partial throttle and is quieter at wot, this isnt normal is it? it is a hell of a lot beefier than stock but isnt as loud as i thought it would be. it is the non delta 40

Jim,
How do you mean about them sound? I know the Delta 40 is quieter than the regular 40. I haven't returned the cat-back (forceII) yet - now I am a bit confused as to which way I should go...

dont get me wrong, it sounds really good, it just isnt as strong as i hoped. go figure, its a 6 not an 8....duh....i believe it is still louder than the force kit though. it looks almost stock. it even rumbles at idle but isnt to loud if i am off the gas. it sounds best between 1500-3000 rpm. not wot. i dont understand. if i floor it it seems to get quieter?

oh yeah, it costed a little more than the bolt on kit but was done in an hour and has a custom routed exhast pipe. it was 185. i got my muffler from vick hubbard for $80 than had speedee muffler do the rest for $95. sounds kinda pricey which it was but midas quoted me 300 bucks for just the instal of the muffler with custom routed pipe.

I can't hurt to reset the computer, in fact it will probably help. As with the sound....It all has to do with the resonance of the pipe. At different exhaust gas velocities and temperatures (exhaust and ambient), the pipes will resonate at different frequencies. Basically if you hit the right RPM (gas velocity) at the right outside temperature, the rumble will be loud. At certain RPMs and temperatures, the resonances will cancel out and produce a quieter sound.

i would say definitely reset the computer. as far as i know, anytime you do anything to your truck, plugs & wires, air filter, cleaning the mas, etc. it is a good idea to reset the computer. i did it after installing my borla, by the way. good luck on the new exhaust!

thanks guys. i think i may just wait until i get my kkm. probably a week or too because it takes like 2 hours to reset my radio stations, although i can do it at work hehehe;)
