Just so everyone knows....
When you are re-gearing any Ford 7.5" or 8.8" axle (may apply to others, but these I am sure of) you DO NOT NEED A NEW CARRIER, unless you are upgrading to a limiited slip or carrier replacement locker.
I know. I've done it. 4.56s will work on a 3.08 carrier.
A Ranger 8.8" 3.08 carrier is the same as a Ranger 8.8" 4.10 carrier.
An Explorer 8.8" 3.27 carrier is the same as an Explorer 8.8" 3.73 carrier.
This means that you can put any available gear ratio on the carrier you have in the back of your truck as long as it is an 8.8" or 7.5".
Now Dana axles are different. They DO have specific carrier break ratios.
Hopefully this saves some guys a few bucks when it comes time to re-gear.
