display shows 3 dashes, won't respond

I did some work on this last week and removed the battery cables to do so. When I hooked them back up the radio acts like it is locked up or something. Where there should be numbers I have these 3 dashes, nothing on the radio seems to respond. I just bought this explorer a few weeks ago and I'm stumped any ideas?
91 2wd sport.

hmmmmm, i can't think of anything else other than your radio has a locking code on it-i don't think you can figure it out on your own (i could be wrong) you might have to take it to Ford for them to unlock it.

I was wondering that myself (still am), I called our local dealership and their service person claimed that Ford has never used them. I wish I had access to an owners manual to see if it had anything to say about it.

For those who may have been intersted, I unhooked the battery, hooked it up again, and the system is now working fine......

that doesn't make sense-the first time you disconnected and reconnected it locked, yet when you disconnected and reconnected the second time-everything was cool? WIERD!!!!
