Do any of you guys have problems with the stock speakers rattling?

Well, I used to have the same problem in my 93 xlt. What I did to fix it was removed the door panels, and removed the black material between the speaker and the cage on the door panel. this seemed to have worked well except there is still stuff in the bottom of the door panels in the rear.

What do you guys think? That material didnt serve a purpose did it?

I think at most that material would mildly protect the speaker from moisture and outside elements. The metal "cage" does more to the detriment of sound than the material. It probably wasn't tight anymore and was fluttering around, seeming like the sound of someting rattling. I got confused in a similar experience when I had a sheet sitting on a port of my sub box.
