ok i stopped to get gas yesterday and I heardf some noise coming from the front end as i pulled away??
I was like oh **** pulled over and tried to figure out what was making the noise??
it was coming from the the front rpassenger wheel hub area and sounded like scraping. I thought i might have been a rock jammed between the disc brake cover and the disk but coulden't figure it out. so we searched and searched and had no clue what it was unless it was in the hub or wheel bearings.
oh yeh one more thing it didn't make the noice in reverse wierd right.
it seemed like 4 wheel drive was working.
so I limped my truck back to school. 20 miles.
along the way the noise got worse i stopped and checked a few times to make sure everything looked alright.
and just as i got to school i heard a pop and the noise wet away. it drove normally and seemed fine?
weird right? so whatever was broke fixed its selkf or chewed itself apart. probobly the second one is my guess. so what parts am i gonna need to check

oh yeh i just last week got an alignment and the had to put a camber kit in on the driver side to get it straight.

hoping to find out what it was from you guys.
i'm guessing it's the hub or wheel bearings but i don't think i'll know till i take it apart this weekend.

so what do you think it is

what happens when us second ganeration guys blow hubs??
also if it;s the hub can i got to manual hubs??
that would be awesome.

any way any help would be awesome thanks.

Second gen's don't have hubs that disconnect. The halfshafts are always spinning.

Check and make sure the halfshaft isn't binding and make sure the hub/spindle is in one piece. I've had a hub seperate on me before, luckily not completly though.

Sorry Lefy, cant get manual hubs on the 2nd Gen's. As JL said the halfshaft are always engaged. Only 1st Gens can have the manuals.

Try putting it into 4x4 and see if the noise goes away. If so then your HUB is the cause.. Mine would make the scrapping sound when turning..., but if I engage 4x4 the hubs would lock and the noise was gone...

If by scraping you mean a God awful, metal on metal, high pitched screacing noise like some sheetmetal is rubbing the rotor and you get goosebumps just hearing it, then yeah, I get that every once in a while too

I'm thinking I might have a warped rotor and a pad might be sticking or something since my CV boots seem fine and there's no way to regrease the bearings

Jack up the front end and check for play in the bearings. when my bearings i could move the tire and wheel etc.
