Hey guys,
I decided that i'm going to run two amps. One (500a2 fosgate) will be powering my subs (10'' HX2s), and the other (old series 1 Fosgate 4600x) will power my front components (Fanatic P Fosgate 5 1/4 ) and my rears (6 x 8 excelons). NOW FOR THE QUESTION: with this set up, will i need an external crossover? I await your judgements.......

The amps should have variable crossovers built into them that you can use. I ran my system like that (Kicker amps) for a long time and it sounded great, but now I added a Pioneer Premier DEH-P630 and have full control of my crossovers and level. Before spending money on an external x-over, I would purchase a full feature CD player.......Ive had external processors before and they are a pain (work good) compared to having all your controls on your CD deck and then you have to find a place to locate them and run wire to them. Good Luck.

i dont think you'll need an external crossover. like it was said earlier, the amps have built in crossovers.

k i was jus making sure....cuz i know the 4600x has a crossover card......and i thought it might be different.....cool then.... thanks!

ps.....the "full feature" cd deck......does that mean it should have 3 preamp outputs in the back?

3 sets of preamp outputs. one is a non fading sub out with low pass crossover. the others are for the front and rear channels and they also have crossovers.

can i find anything like that for around 200 bucks?

you cold check ebay. that would probably be the cheapest place.

I use the Pioneer Premier DEH-P630 and it has screensaver, 4v preouts, hp/lp crossovers, sub level, 3 sets of RCAs........it has tons of other stuff too........I have seen them on Ebay for around $240.....Its a great deck and I would highly recommend it.

I have the Pioneer p930 and I highly recommend it as well as its built-in crossovers. Premier HUs are great. Betwwen that and your amps xovers, you shouldnt need more.

would you know of anything like that in a kenwood? lol
i think the rotating faces are too sweet!

Kenwood does make a nice deck too...check them out at www.thezeb.com They have links to all the manufacturers' websites.
