I tried searching but couldn't find an answer.

My buddy gave me a set of Alpine 5x7s. Doing my install research here I noticed a couple of references to bypassing the factory amp. I searched and didn't find any reason why this might have to be done. I've never heard of it on any other type of vehicle before. I have a '95 with the factory Premium stereo, but I've changed the head unit to an aftermarket one. Do I really need to bypass that amp, and if so how do I go about it? Won't the sound quality be WORSE with no amp?

Edit- Weird, I was in the audio forum when I wrote this. I don't know how it ended up over here. Can a mod move it, please? I can't find a way to delete it.

If you are just replacing the speakers then there shouldnt be a need in bypassing the amp. If you are adding a deck then you will need to, I did it to my friends a long time ago and if I can remember correctly I just hooked up control wires up and it worked (the blue ones)
