Hi all,

I have a 93 ex sport. I recently got a new HU & am getting interference...

I just took my truck in (right now) to get an amp bipass harness put in.

The 'guy' told me that once I have the amp bipass in place my factory sub won't work cuz if runs off the (factory) amp.
--> Is this TRUE? or is he just trying to sell an amp and a new sub?

Any info would be great! I don't have time to put in the bipass myself BUT this is the first time I've heard anything about the sub not working when you put in an amp bipass.

Thanx in advance, :p :D

Well, if you're bypassing the amp (going around it so its not included) that would mean that that it wouldn't be active... So no the sub won't be working anymore... Now weather or not you can actually still make it active with some extra wiring I don't know...

There are 2 seperate ams, you'd bypass the speaker amp, and be fine.

when replacing the head unit, you cannot run the audio signal through the factory amp. It does not read the same signal as an aftermarket head unit, but depending on the head unit, it will most likely sound better. I would sugger also replacing the speakers, this is where most of the quality of sound comes from. as for the sub, i have no idea. I am an installer at circuit city and have not had to bypass an explorer amp yet.

It uses the same signal, and you very well can use the factory amp. It won't sound as good unless you have a bottom of the barrel HU, but it definately can be done.

I have an ok HU, I did the amp bipass to get rid of the buzzing noise that came on with the new HU. The amp bipass solved my noise problem, but I have no sub - which I find makes a huge difference...

Any suggestions on a half decent amp? -- I don't need to go deaf, just to have my sub back again! :(

Thanks for the feedback..

THis is the exact same issue that I am dealing with. I would like to have the sub working again, but don't want to go out and spend a fortune on an amp for it. Is there a way to make it work?

what you could do is either find a mono amp, or a 2 channel amp with a high input connection, and splice the rear speaker wires at the harness, connect the high input to that.

remember not to get an amp thats too strong, you might blow the sub.

youll have to run a remote turn on wire from the deck, you could use the power and ground from the original sub amp

there might be a way to get the stock sub amp to work, but i havent looked at the wiring since i went aftermaret, and i cant look at it right now due to my recent wrist surgery.
