I would like to purchase an oem microphone harness and have it installed by a professional, but I before i purchase it, i would like to see what does it look like, i am assuming the wiring connects to the radio, but if anyone got a weekend project and is going to take apart their explorer if can take a picture of the microphone wiring that will be cool of them.

thanks,

No the wiring connects to the sync module. The nav is not voice avtivated

where does the sync module connect

where does the sync module connect

it connects the mic, satellite and radio, well technically its an input to the apim, then everything else is through a audio networks through out multi components.

if you are trying to add a mic to factory navigation radio to speak inputs into it, it wont work the radio is not even capable of audio inputs.

Exactly what he said!!

what year is the truck that you are putting it into. also is it sync equipped or not.

2006 the radio is 2008, but doesnt have sync.... i was also reading some place that ford vehicles equipped with auto dimming mirrors already have the mic built in the mirror, but not sure how true that is

The phone icon is just that a phone icon not sync and sync will never work in that car it requires many more modules than just the radio.that radio looks like it may be from a Navigator now that had a sync kit available but you need the rest of the factory radio witch included a rear dvd this is not a easy or cost effective project to take on I would have second thoughts about this .PS I do this stuff for a living and this is not a good idea!

i dont want a parrot phone i want to use my navigation system, well i called up an audio store and they said they can wire the sync system into my vehicle even if its a 2006, but i am not looking for sync i am looking for a microphone where i can hide it inside the mirror

ford makes something called mobile ease, for the radio to play sound, and you install the mic, and the bluetooth

looking at that radio, the mic comes from the apim for an 08, 06 does not even have a remote mic anywhere in the car.

mobile ease, is ford plug and play, i would search this forum or google too how well it works. never tried it tbh.

yea i tried contacting the dealer in my local area, we only have one ford in this whole entire island where i live on in hawaii... and when i gave them the vin number of my vehicle they told me mobile ease could be installed on my vehicle either, i dont know why

nah i dont like the radio, it looks really ugly
