i was thinking about putting in another component set for the back seat passengers. i heard fusion's top two lines of subwoofers and they sound great. i still haven't heard their component sets yet. i was wondering if anyone had them, and what they thought. if not, i'm open to suggestions for other HIGH END component sets. thanks

i heard them for an moment, and i liked them, but to come back on your own words ;)

you should go out and listen for yourself, as everyone has different taste and such these speakers might sound good to me but they might not sound to good to you or others....

Hey if you want high end components you can't get much better than Focal Polyglass, Polykevlar, or if you are rich the Utopia series. These components are outstanding. I may replace my components with the Polyglass ro Polykevlar series soon.

Focal

Focals are awesome. I have a set of the Polykevlars in my Explorer, and the only speakers that I have heard that sounded better were the Utopias. Of course, this is all IMHO, and you should go listen yourself, but I have never heard any other speakers that are as detailed as the Focals.

Hey which size PolyKevlars did you get? I think they come in 5 1/8" and 5 3/8" and then the larger ones that won't fit. Did you have any problems with them fitting? The magnets seem pretty big and deep.

Focals

You should be all right with the 5 3/8s. I've got the 5 3/8 or whatever Utopias, and hey are awesome. I had to build a mounting placte made of 1/2 inch MDF, and get a set of those angles plastic rings that come with 6x9s for imaging. The Utopia magnets are deeper than the Poly's so you should be all right with just the plastic piece and a thin mounting plate.
Door panel will go right over them, but right now I'm looking at getting them flush mounted with the door, so the cumbersome Ford speaker grill isn't in the way dimishing the sound.
BTW, if you buy Focals from ANYONE on the net, the Maunfacturer's warranty is null and void. Some dealers will give you a warranty through them, but they are only as good as their word. Good luck, and excellent choice.

Karl

thanks guys

i forgot all about focal. i'll probably go with 5 3/8. i'm keeping all the speakers i have now, but i plan on making fiberglass panels to hold the components. i have 5.25" components in the kickpanels in front. the second set will be for the rear passengers.
thanks for your suggestions, i'll probably go with polykevlar if i go with focal. it'll be about a month before i get them. how much power are you guys running to them (rms). i appreciate all of your replys. i would've never thought of focal.

I have the 6.5" Polykevlars, the 165Ks. They fit in the door with no problem, but I did make my own adapter plate out of MDF. The magnets just barely fit, so I'm pretty sure the 6.5" Utopias wouldn't fit. Oh well, the next car will get the Utopias. I have the tweeters flush mounted in the dash, so I didn't have to worry about fitting them in the door panel too. You should have no problems with the 5 3/8s.

Hey Leenjen, screw the back seat passengers, put those Focals up front for yourself :). I'm running 60 w/ch to them, but they'll take (and love) a lot more.

peace

Mike
