I'm looking into doing some powdercoating (maybe) in the future and I was jut curious if anyone has ever done any? HarbourFreight has a cheap powdercoating systems and I thought about giving it a try. One thing I had a question about was the oven. I know they make oven for powdercoating but I wanted to know if a regular oven could be used for baking? I don't feel like spending $400 on a oven just for powdercoating so if anyone has any input I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Travis

I know this old guy who uses an old toaster over and the stuff comes out great.

i heard that once you use an oven for powercoat you cant use it for food again, soemthing in the powder leaves chemicals in the oven, may not be true, i just heard that somewhere, and i cant remember where

From what i've heard you have to use an electric oven or a heat lamp to cure it. Some guy's will use an old oven for this and keep in in the garage, just wheel it outside when needed.

Yeah that's what I was thinking of doing. Just buying an old oven and keeping it in the garage. I think my buddy and I are going to both pitch in on this to make it cheaper and we woudl both use it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Anyone else?
