i used one a long time ago. read a little "optimistic" but was very accurate in back to back runs. i think at the time i was running around a 14.3 at the track, and the Gtech would show me a 14.0 on the same pass. they are quite accurate by themselves, and work great for testing modifications on the same vehicle.

And it tells you all the good stuff by just plugging it in the cigarette lighter?

I had a similar machine by Race Technologies. It was accurate for 1/4 mile and other distance stuff, but a little off for 0-60. Overall it was good. I sold it since I didn't have a good place to mount it though.

yup. and believe it or not, it is accurate on back-to-back runs. like i said, its a little optimistic, but all you gotta do is add a few thenths to the 1/4 mile time and you're good to go.

i have heard the ones like Alec had are a little more accurate than the Gtech, but ive never used one.

I believe Car and Driver tested one of them a couple of years ago and really liked them.

One problem is you still need a track or strip to run the 1/4 mile in. The track has to be 100% flat and 100% straight for the accellerometer to work properly. Even a slight hill will wreck the accuracy, curves will throw it off.

I assume you have one, BoatBuilder? How do you like it? Is it worth $150?

I recently got the GTech for $40 on Ebay. It is definately worth that much, but not it's retail price. They're on there all the time direct from the manufacturer for $40.

I've own an G-tec for an number of years. I've used it for many things including tuning . It's worth the cash if you got it. My best info was from leaving it on the glass and letting it do its thing in trafic.
