Does this sound alright???

I talked with a guy who does custom exhaust in the Oregon area. I was wanting to change the exhaust system in my 02 Explorer, as you all know it has IRS thus makeing it difficult to run Duels. I got to talking with the guy while it was up in the air, and noticed that it had 4 Cats on it, and 4 O2 sensors. The last cat, (largest) didn't have any so he suggested the we remove it, put a 3 chambered 27" Flowmaster on it. He said the it would sound great, and that there would be power increase that I could feel, and that the remaining 3 Cats would still pass emission test.
In Oregon there is no state inspection, but I plan on moving back to NC in a couple of Years.

I guess what I am asking is this a good idea. i really want the most power I can get out of the engine with out changing to much stuff. The don't make a K&N for it yet.

I don't think the guy is full of it. I mean I have seen his work and just about everybody suggest him. Oh and he is going to make me a skid plate for my Ranger so you guys don't have to hear me whine about that anymore.

well it will sound good but as for performance or electronic stuff i cant tell you anything. I have a flowmaster on my SOHC and I love it.

did you just replace the muffler, or did you run duel pipes from the muffler.

Could you tell any difference in performance, or MPG's

I put on a dual in/dual out flowmaster 50 SUV muffler and ran 2.25" duals. I have yet to find out what is killing my highway MPG as it is the same as city MPG... 16.

I am purchasing a 50 series delta for my SOHC after work today. Can I ask why you chose the SUV instead? I was very tentative to decide between the two, and want to know I made the right choice. Thanks.

I didnt actually choose it. I went to the muffler shop and told the guy I wanted dual exhaust using a flowmaster 50. I'm pretty sure flowmaster doesnt make a dual in/dual out delta 50 so thats why he ordered the SUV. Either way it will sound good.
