In the early morning, after the car has been sitting all night I'll drive to work (all highway) and at the first warming cycle of the engine, the temp needle when rise just to under "H" and then come back down to the center of the temp range. It seems to remain there after. This happens every morning no matter what.

mine did this and it was the thermostat but all cars are different but i would say its a good bet

Sounds like the thermostat is slow to open, so the engine gets a bit hot as it warms up, then cools down once the thermostat is open.

Replace the Tstat. Easy fix.

Yuppers. Definately sounds like a sticking t'stat.

FYI Guys...replaced the T-stat today and that was exactly the problem. She runs perfectly again. I also put a tranny cooler on :) Yup...figured now that I can't afford to replace transmissions anymore, this was the next best thing. I have 170k on it and we're going on a trip to NYC, Chicago and a few others in May so I wanted to get that done ASAP.
