Doesn't ANYONE know where my RAP is located?

C'mon, surely someone out there can tell me where to find the elusive RAP -- with my keyless entry code -- on my "new" '01 Sport.

As I said in my post from yesterday, the ONLY thing in the jack compartment is the jack and the seatbelt mechanism. The code isn't written on the firewall as it was in my '97, and of course the previous owner kept the owner card.

Take pity on me, '01 Sport owners or other tech folks!

I work at a ford dealership and alot of the time on the newer cars the codes are really hard to find. I'd just take it to your local dealer (Ford) and ask them to hook up your car to their "Super Computer" which will tell you just about anything you want to know about your car. They can pull any code in minutes. If they are half way courtious they wont charge you for it, and if they do it wont be much.

I found the RAP -- and keyless entry code!!!

My obsessive-compulsive behavior drove me to examining everything in my X with my trusty mag-lite -- and I finally found the elusive RAP!

It's located underneath the dash on the driver's side. located just behind the parking brake mechanism. It's a black plastic box with a molded handle sticking out, and on it there's a white bar-coded label.

On the label, under the bar code, is a 12 digit alpha code. The middle 5 digits make up the keyless entry code.

Thanks for the discovery Jim!! Yours is about the third later Sport that I have read about here that couldn't find the RAP. Your investigation should help out many more in the future!

Thanks for the info - I've been loking for that code for the better part of several hours.

However, I tried the middle 5 digits like you suggested, and they didn't work

any ideas? [2001 Explorere Sport 4x4]

[edit - I have looked in the jack compartment and there is nothing (I mean nothing, that compartment is empty except for the jack and the seatbelt), checked on the computer module (pass side kick panel) and its not on there either. Just want to get the code without having to take it into the ford Garage]

I too tried this code. No go - and the dealers here are of no help what so ever.

I haven't read this whole thread, but as far as middle numbers...my code is really large and bold compared to the other numbers on the box. Located further back on the box, towards the bottom or right side (my box is tilted).

Ok, so mine is for a '98 Sport. But if it's not in the same spot as in the '01 then I'll have to check my mom's 2002 later. I didn't realize that they moved it out of the jack area?

mine is a job 1, and its not in the jack compartment...Im at work today and wont have a chance to see if this under dash placement works for me until tomorrow morning.

i think job 1 was the first production of sports which ended in late 2000. (i dont feel like digging out my manual) after the second production run they changed the design and did some minor tweaking. moving the RAP was one of them.
