Since yours is a 1st Generation like mine, you've still got door pins. I'd check and make sure that your door switches are all still there, and being pushed by the doors. if something got inbetween the door and the switch, it can be crushed. I've seen it over the years.

The door switch is located at the front of the door, between the upper and lower hinge. It's small, round, and black.

Open each door one at a time, push this button. The switch that is giving you trouble will shut the light off. Start with that, and if that's not it, you'll have to dig deeper, and get a wiring diagram.

first put the fuse back, and take out the bulbs so you have the radio!!
and do not forget the rear hatch has i light thingy, it is located if you open the hatch over to the left, and the upper claw, just put the claw down and it will turn it off if that is the prob, but check the others first as they are plastic.

Yes I have a van that the little pin got broken off somehow on the back doors, so it 'thinks' the door is open all the time.

yep ..fixed thks...it was the button on the passenger side rear door so i unplugged it and it went right out...lol,,i unplugged all the others first..figures...but is ok cuz i dont want light on unless i turn it on so all is good..back on road thks 4 help

Those switches are adjustable. you pull it back out with pliers, and it should be useable. You pinch the steel that surrounds the plastic, and voila, it's fixed.

shouldnt be too hard to fix, if you want to do it right.

Glad you found the problem
:)

My '93 is just opposite! With doors open, I get door lites but no dome lite. not even if I turn the dash lite adjust all the way. There are 2 lites with buttons in the roof but nothing else. Is there a bulb inside not working? I hav'nt looked.

Should be one in the middle. Not sure though. Mine does not have map lights, it's got lighted visors instead. Brother's 93 ranger does have 1 bulb in the middle, and the 2 map lights.

I have both, lited visors and map lites !

Could be a Mazda thing. Who knows?
