dont know what it is??? oil peak

I got a 96 ranger with the 4.0 in it. It has a oil leak from the front driver side by the radiator. What is down there? When I crawled under there I noticed both small and larger hoses there. I bought a oil gage sensor because It suddenly quit. I have noticed a larger use of oil since this happened and it smokes at first then disappears . What was I looking at and what can be done for this?

Oil gauge sender has nothing to do with your issue. A very simple part to replace.

See if there is a 2nd little radiator that's an oil cooler, whether that or the lines to it are shot. Are you certain it is engine oil that is leaking there and not transmission fluid, as IIRC some with a towing package did have a transmission radiator, or of course someone could have added either.
