my door ajar light and buzzer comes on everytime I hit a bump... how can I fix or disable this? I think its a back door but not sure. 2000 ranger xlt ext. cab or super cab whatever it called. im new to ford

WD40 sprayed into the latch assemblies usually fixes this problem. Even if it doesn't, you are not put out because your latches & hinges need regular lubrication anyway.

If lube doesn't help, examine the doors and see if any seem to not close flush or have some wiggle to them. Grab each door individually from the outside and apply some pulling and pushing motion to see if play in it causes the light and buzzer to come on.

When you close the doors, see if they are still hanging true or need a height adjustment. Either it isn't fully latching shut and needs adjustment, or the door jamb switch itself isn't making good contact anymore, you could try spraying contact cleaner into it and retracting it a bunch of times manually to create some friction which along with the cleaner may clear some gunk or oxidation out of the way, or otherwise buy a replacement switch.

I suppose it's also possible you have frayed wiring coming from the door, if so then probably in the hinge boot area where it flexes but I don't know the entire routing of that wiring, whether the only flex point is the door to which the switch senses or if for some reason it might route into the driver's door too.

Re

i THINK ITS ONE OF THE BACK DOORS, BUT I DONT SEE A SWITCH. THE WIRING BOOT LOOKS A LITTLE FLATTENED, SO I MAY HAVE A SHORT. THANKS FOR THE INFO
