I have a 1997 Explorer Sport and the control for the heat does not seem to work. It is hot all the time no matter what setting I turn it to. I wonder if the control is vacuum or electric and if this sounds like a door blend problem?

Thanks,

Welcome to the Forum.

Yup, it's the blend door. You should hear something moving behind the glovebox when turning the temp dial.

the blend door motor is the most common problem its under 40.00, unbolt the motor and while its plugged in and key in the run position turn the dial from cold to hot or vise versa and watch the dowel it moves very slow. If it doesn't move them the motor is bad. easy as that, takes me about 15min to swap one out, if the motor is good then the blend door itself is broken, the dash will need to be removed along with the a/c evacuated and coolant drained to replace it
