Door lock problem - help

I have a 2002 eddie bauer with 88,000 miles. Recently had a problem with the drivers door pin switch- replaced the switch and problem was resolved. However now a new problem has cropped up. I cannot lock the doors with out the key being in the ignition. When I remove key and try to lock doors from inside the switch is dead. I don't have the fobs(long story) so I cannot use them to lock doors. I can only lock doors manually with the key from outside. The drivers door switch is dead but the passenger door works. check the wiring in the brum in between the door and the frame. Most likely a broken wire, I had the same problem in my 97m and it was a green/pink wire.
