Forgive me if this was posted before, I became lazy and didn't wade thru all the threads.
My 02 Explorer XLT has a wierd quirk, the door lock switch won't work when the door is half way open. It will work when the door is 3/4 to fully opened, and it will work when latched, but not in between. Last night I pulled the door panel off, and noticed that it will work when the key is turned to the "on" position. I wiggled and jiggled wires, but it won't work unless fully open, or with the key.
Also, it doesn't seem to sense the door is shut either. When I lock the car and walk away the interior lights stay on until the automatic timer shuts them off. Also, if I shut the door with the keys in the ignition, it will continue to "ding". I'm assuming it would do that until the batttery is drained?
I have not drenched the latch with WD-40 yet, it seems to need a stranger solution than that. I have an Ultrastart Car starter installed also, but that has been installed since Dec. '04, and it just recently started with the wierd lock thing!!!
