i found my problem that makes my doors speakers cut out.

i took off the rear driver side door panel and found that somehow some way, when the screws that hold the speaker in place are in they short the speaker out.

its really weird, the speaker is a audiobahn 5x7 component speaker with a built in cross over. anyways i've lost my head on this for ever trying to think of a way to solve this

i've pretty much come to the conclusion that i need to pick up some plastic screws so this won't happen.
its only the one speaker too its really weird

any other suggestions?

Try using a little piece of rubber in between the screw and the speaker mounting hole:D

that might work,
but if the threads on the screw touch the inside of the mounting hole it will still cut out.

Check the speaker wiring and the connections, sounds like the speaker maybe hooked up wrong, ie: positive wired to the ground side of the speaker, try switching the +/- and grounding the speaker to the body and see if it still works...

could that be it?
i dunno i think speakers run on A/C current which doesn't go one way, so switching them wouldn't really do to much would it?

i used plastic screws today that i got from lowes and it seems to be working fine now....but that could change....

well, speakers may be on A/C current, but everything in the truck pretty much shares a common ground... thats where my line of thought is coming from for the speaker cutting out when grounded...

Note: I havent bothered to check this, just a blind stab at the possible problem :)

ok well thanks

if the problem comes back i'll try switching the +/-
