my 92 explorer was having some problems with its door speakers a few weeks back.....heres what happened then

the door speakers wouldn't play
but the tweeters and sub played fine and the cd player kept playing like normal.
The tweeters i have are amplifed by an external amp and so its the Sub.
I noticed that when it did this i heard a POP come from the speakers when it would "attempt" to turn on.

i thought it was the internal amp on my cd player but before i ran new speaker wire and externally amplifer my door speakers i tried my cd player again hte next day and it worked..

Now just last night it did it to me again
no door speaker sound, cd player ran fine, tweeters and sub both working. I was fiddling with it and i kept hear the poping sound when ever i turned it on and off
i turned it on and off i'd say 10-12 times and the door speakers started to work again

I am very picky about wiring so i know all my wiring is good cuz i do it right the first time so i don't have to mess with this kinda stuff all the time...but this is weird.

If one of my door speaker wires are "arching" would this make all the door speakers stop working like that?
i'm really stumped on this one, i was real close to just buying a new cd player and being done with it...

Your luck sucks

bare wire touching metal would cause the speaker to pop or a bad ground

Well here is my experience with door speakers, front drivers side to be exact. That particular speaker hasn't worked since the day I bought my X (3/02). I bought some new speakers and started installing them. Got around to the front drivers side and took out the old speaker. When I pulled out the stock speaker there were no wires attached to it. Somebody (probably at a ford dealership) had mangled the wire inside the door when they had replaced something in the door. It was completely cut through. So there was no power reaching the speaker since the day it had been cut. I had to dig all in the door to find the lead from the radio and rig it up so that it reached my new speaker. So my advice to you is make sure that incompetent people haven't cut through your speaker wires for no reason! (No hard feelings toward mechanics).
