Doors won't lock anymore?

Hi everyone. Here's my problem. I have a 1998 Explorer that the lock feature doesn't work on the driver's side or passenger's side door panel, but works from the power button inside the rear hatch. The outside keypad will unlock the doors just fine but will NOT lock the doors. Also, the autolock is not working now either. The doors unlock fine from the inside switches It's weird that the lock function works from the switch in the back only. Any clues???

I have spent hours searching the forum and this question has been asked a few times but not answered as far as I can tell. Thanks in advance.
