Hello,

how can you replace , pull out this sensor ?

<http://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/fulltext/images/1966/tb6953c.gif>

The 2 rubber tubes are attached to the sensor so tight, i can't pull it out.

is there a trick ?

I have the 4.0l SOHC 2002 Ford Explorer 4WD.

thanks!!

Yes, buy new hoses, then use a cutter, cut the old hoses and install everything new.
I don't recommend you using the old ones; when disconnecting them you make them weaker and can burn a hole in your dpfe

Yeah mine was really on there good when I changed it a couple months ago. I finally actually broke one of the plastic nipples off of the old sensor inside one of the hoses. It was easier after that because I could then pull that hose off the lower nipple. I found a phillips screwdriver that was the right diameter and pushed the broken off plastic nipple out with it. So, I think you gotta just pull harder. If you can get one hose off on either end then you can twist a little too.

edit: It is probably a good idea to put new hoses on there. I just didn't want to make a trip to the dealer once I got started.

thanks.

i warmed the engine and then pulled harder. i came out.

btw, autozone's sensor is a bit different looking but fits ok.

glad to know you got it out. There was an esay way described here in the forum:

Grasp the unit and then TWIST and PULL. The rubber hoses attached to the the stainless lines should come out easily.
