the ones from the dealer are coated and are specificly made for the exhaust gases.

Dealer (Southern NJ) sells correct hoses for about $7 foot. The hoses have slightly different diameters so you need two sizes (1 foot of each is plenty).

my 99 sport when i start revs high and stalls and only runs if given gas to warm up. a parts guy at a local ford dealer said that it could be my EGR pressure sensor the DPFE15 thats causing this and i am wondering if this is the real symptoms before i buy one because he told me they are like $135 from ford but i found one for $80 and need some advice before purchasing

Had this happen a week ago on my 93K 4.0L 2WD Explorer Sport.
Took off on Saturday morning on vacation, hit a maintenance slowdown on the top of the pass, and would not idle.
Made it to the next "town", found the hose nipple melted off.
NAPA had the sensor.
Intake torched.
JB Quick fixed the manifold, cut the hoses short, hung the part in space.
Monday morning a Ford dealership was a block from where we stayed, they had the special two-sizes of silicone hose cut to rough length on the shelf.
1/4" and 5/16" WILL NOT WORK!
They will blow off again.
These seem to be "metric".

I am visiting my local dealership Monday morning here.
35 years in the biz, a former emissions specialist, and former Ford mechanic, and I've never seen this......neither has the service folks at the dealership on vacation.

Don't seem to have too much backpressure, rather the sensor failed and at Warp Factor Two the exhaust gasses simply torched a slot in the intake.

Should have taken the Flathead.

DPFE Sensor

You might want to check your plug wires, My #5 wire was toasted when the
sensor was melted.

Took out the plug wire harness mount but the wires are fine.
Very strange.

Same thing just happened to me. Wiring harness sheathing torched, but wires look ok.
Hose was deteriorated and broken up.

Replaced the hose, and am good to go.

clogged orifice

Did any one fix this? How about a plugged converter causing excess back pressure.

The DPFE compares the pressure before and after an orifice in the EGR pipe and reports the result to the PCM as a differential pressure. There is only flow thru the EGR pipe when the EGR valve is open.

Did anyone who had the vacuum line to the DPFE sensor have any EGR related DTCs prior to the hose failing? Which hose to the DPFE sensor blew off (the one before or after the orifice)?

I want to learn more so I can prevent the failure from happening in my Sport!

No codes prior. To prevent this, just squeeze the larger hose from top to bottom and feel for softness. You will know. You might just want to replace the hose. I found the hose for $.69 cents. Im still amazed how the exhaust gasses burn the wiring harness. My wires were fine, but the wrapping of the wiring harness was cooked, and burnt off. I have 200k on my 2000 exlorer 4L ohv.

I am having a problem with water getting into my dpfe sensor and shorting it out i have put like 5 on seince i rebuilt the top half of the motor and even before then that sensor keep going out making it sputter and i get a check engine lite till i put a new sensor on and it will run fine for a week or to i think its water getting into it does anyone have any idea why this is happening or wjhat i could do to stop it i have replaced everything egr, egr tube, egr solniod, dpfe sensor and hoses, and the mass at the point i cant think of anything that would improve this problem
