Had this happen a week ago on my 93K 4.0L 2WD Explorer Sport.
Took off on Saturday morning on vacation, hit a maintenance slowdown on the top of the pass, and would not idle.
Made it to the next "town", found the hose nipple melted off.
NAPA had the sensor.
Intake torched.
JB Quick fixed the manifold, cut the hoses short, hung the part in space.
Monday morning a Ford dealership was a block from where we stayed, they had the special two-sizes of silicone hose cut to rough length on the shelf.
1/4" and 5/16" WILL NOT WORK!
They will blow off again.
These seem to be "metric".
I am visiting my local dealership Monday morning here.
35 years in the biz, a former emissions specialist, and former Ford mechanic, and I've never seen this......neither has the service folks at the dealership on vacation.
Don't seem to have too much backpressure, rather the sensor failed and at Warp Factor Two the exhaust gasses simply torched a slot in the intake.
Should have taken the Flathead.
