Hey everyone, I'm going to mount my 10 disc changer under my rear set in my 2002 Eddie bauer. I tried to velcro down to the floor but right now it rests on that metal bar that goes across the bottom of the seat and every bump skips the changer.

Before I drill the changer into place, is there anything I should be careful of in that spot, i.e. muffler clearance or any kind of fuel line?

I've only had my Explorer for a couple of months, so sorry if this is a stupid question.

Thanks in advance!!!

mys suggestion would be to try and drill to the seat mounting bracket itself not the floor of the vehicle, or maybe cut a piece of metal as a bracket that you can use to mount the CD changer, or use the metal bar you mention in the post. When you start drilling into the floor you run into all kinds of problems, all of which can easily be avoided. Do you have a 3rd row? if so I mounted mine on the second row, so when I flip the seat up I have perfect access to it.

I was thinking about drilling small pieces of wood to the CD changer and somehow mount the wood to the floor without drilling. I do have a 3rd row and I am trying to mount the changer under the 2nd row of seating. It's the perfect spot if that metal bar wasn't mounted to the floor.

As long as the changer sits above the bar, then the vibrations should greatly be reduced, and no more skipping.

I'll play around with it and see what I can come up with.
