I had a noise coming from the alternator area of the my X. I have 99 with a 5.0 in it.

Anyways I had people tell me to replace the tensioner pulley. So I got a new one from the dealer and i got it back in, but i cant get the damn belt back on.

Anyone help me out here. I got it all routed as the diagram showed and I dont have enough slack to get that damn thing on right.

Please help!!!

put a 3/8" drive in the slot and move it......

in what slot? There are 2 bolts that hold the pulley into place, I have those in, but the tensioner moves just a little bit and I get it all the way down to where it bottoms out and it still isnt enough...

damn this sucks...

Pull it counter clockwise and really put some muscle into it. REALLY PULL IT HARD while using your other hand to allign the belt.

the damn thing just doesnt move...I dont see where I need to put the drive in order for the pulley to move...I wish I had some sort of picture to look at.

How much pull are you getting from it. 1/4 turn is about how much I could get out of it. If you are not even close to getting it in then you probably have a belt that is too short. Call the place you got the belt from and make sure you got the right part number.

got it on...thanks for the help guys...

Anyone have the part number for a 00 Explorer 5.0 serpentine belt?
